WATCH: Meagan Good And Jerrie Johnson Reveal What’s Most Exciting About ‘Harlem’ Season 2

The actresses discuss the big story arcs and fun moments ahead for their characters in the new chapter of the hit Prime Video comedy

The second season of Prime Video’s hit girlfriend comedy Harlem just kicked off, answering burning fan questions of what’s next after several of the show’s beloved characters have thrown caution to the wind to get to their next step in life.

For Meagan Good and Jerrie Johnson, the possibilities (and consequences) for their characters Camille and Ty are plentiful in the show’s new season now that each of them has found a way to effectively blow their lives up in the season 1 finale.

“I’m excited for people to see that it’s okay to discover that, in some ways, you may not always be who you think you are,” Good tells ESSENCE. “And it’s okay to discover who you actually are, and do it in a way that isn’t always perfect.”

“A lot of s*** goes down, and it’s crazy, and it’s spicy, but it’s also honest, fun, and has a lot of heart.”

For Ty (played by Johnson), the high-powered app developer and businesswoman of the crew with relationship commitment issues, chickens come home to roost when she realizes she’s built a reputation around New York City as a heartless womanizer.

“I’m excited about Ty contemplating what it means to open her heart for love,” Johnson says. “I think that she’s in the midst of it, but from my perspective, Ty doesn’t have all the resources that she may need to truly unpack what she needs to unpack.”

“I hope with this season, viewers are able to lean into the fact that none of these characters are perfect people,” Good adds. “I think we all try not to judge our characters and the journey, and we try to make sure it’s as authentic and it’s honest, and it’s realistic, and it’s tangible. And it ends with a bang.”

Harlem season 2 streams Fridays on Prime Video, with two episodes released per week starting February 3.
